I want more monster fights and less humans! Millie Bobby Brown is great but did not need to be in this movie. Her little “side mission” with her friend from school and the strange man off the internet was reminiscent of The Goonies. Yet added nothing to the overall story. GvK (Godzilla vs. Kong) is the fourth film in the monster franchise, starting with Gareth Edwards’ 2014 reboot Godzilla. Followed by King of the Monsters and Kong: Skull Island.

The only thing that made this film bearable were the battles. When Godzilla showed up, I got the sense that shit was about to go down, literally. I don’t like how they did my boy Kong in the first encounter. He was basically in a handicap match. The rematch in Tokyo was much better! Kong might be one of the most malicious kaiju fighters I’ve seen. He’s definitely the most intelligent.

Should you watch this? Hell to the yeah. A little drink or smoke could provide an enhanced viewing experience. Because baby, some of the CG scenes looked rough, like half-baked brownies. It’s easy to overlook when you’re sitting at home streaming from HBO Max. Maybe it looks better on a big screen? I’m not sure. Godzilla vs. Kong gets a 6.5 out of 10.
