Enough of the PG stuff, we’re back to the R-rated debauchery. There’s no better way to celebrate the Halloween spirit than to watch Candyman: Farewell To The Flesh. To me, it came off as a soft reboot. It’s completely removed from the previous film that took place in Chicago. Now the vengeful specter has somehow traveled to New Orleans.
C.M. (Candyman) is a lot more brutal this time around. He is claiming victims that didn’t even call his name. Bodies are stacked in this movie and no one is safe! In this entry, C.M. is stalking another White woman in hopes of getting an afterlife bae. We also learn more of his horrific origin story.
I liked the Day of Dead theme, but some of the accents were terrible. The radio host guy is annoying too. I really would have liked to see the fallout of the supernatural murderous rampage. One of the killings was even caught on camera. Candyman: Farewell To The Flesh doesn’t quite carry the same punch as the first. I give it a 5.5 out of 10.
