Se7en (1995) Review

What a classic! David Fincher is one of my favorite directors. One of his best works is Se7en. A crime mystery full of suspense and drama. It’s a cast filled with star power. Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt, Gwyneth Paltrow, and R. Lee Ermey. The movie is a masterpiece.

A serial killer is committing murders inspired by the seven deadly sins from the Christian faith. Two detectives that don’t really get along are assigned the case. If you are squeamish, this is not the movie for you. There are many disturbing images that will haunt you forever. I loved seeing the scholarly investigation take place on-screen.

There’s suspense, action, and strong monologues. It’s scary how similar the plot is in SaW, it might have been inspired by this one. The movie is a slow burn that’s very methodical in its pacing. Clocks in at about 2 hours so be ready stay in your seat. Se7en is a must watch. I give it a strong 9 out of 10.
