Oh boy! This was a real horror movie. Insidious: The Last Key is the fourth movie in the franchise and one of the best yet. There’s some phenomenal imagery and jump scares galore. The Last Key is what I like to call, a throwback to monster movies. There’s some scary ass creatures in this movie that you have to see. It really makes you think about what’s lurking in the dark.
Some familiar faces return such as the main character, Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye), along with her sidekicks Specs (Leigh Whannel) and Tucker (Angus Sampson). The trio hunt ghosts that torment families. I love the chemistry of the team. You can tell they’re a band of misfits who only have each other. Family is a big theme of the story.
Elise Rainier, the psychic medium, returns to her childhood home to confront a supernatural entity. One she released unknowingly as a small girl. That’s all you need to know. The story goes off the rails from there with disturbing events, shocking reveals, and much despair. I found myself in suspense the entire time I was watching this. Insidious: The Last Key gets an 8.5 out of 10. Go see it!
