Hotshot #2: A Hero’s Welcome – Part 2

Two titans face off in an epic battle

The cover of this comic tells you everything you need to know. Hotshot suffers a severe beatdown from a behemoth of a man known as The Void. I don’t know who this guy is or why he’s obsessed with darkness and “Extinguishing the light.” What I am certain about, is his ability to throw hands and everything but the kitchen sink. There’s a lot of action packed in this single issue. some of the panels are a bit difficult to follow because of their size. Yet, the sequence of the brawl is clear to the reader.

Hotshot versus The Void in an epic brawl

I have never seen a hero face so much conflict from one villain in such a short amount of time. The Void is ridiculously strong, possessing super-strength and other ungodly powers. His look alone is intimidating, a hulk of a man with strange, red markers covering his body and face. Either his costume is exceptionally tight, or he has a serious skin condition. The Void has a dark grey exterior that gives him a stone-like appearance. I find his design abstract and alien.

Hotshot throwing hands with the sinister villain known as The Void

The fight between the two is so intense, you would think Hotshot stole his grandmother’s purse. Void is relentless in his pursuit, and I am curious to see if the city will survive his war path. Although the comic is bright and relatively upbeat, it reads like a horror movie. Reminiscent of when Doomsday showed up and destroyed the entire countryside before making it to Metropolis in Superman: The Man of Steel #17. Hotshot #2 is a great issue and I’m proud to say it has won my attention for the foreseeable future.
