The Falcon & Winter Soldier – Episode 1

After WandaVision, I decided to go cold-turkey and focus on other television programs. Yet, here I am, back at square one, and grateful. This is the show I didn’t know I needed from the Marvel Cinematic Universe; a glimpse into the everyday life of a hero. The lesser known or least favorite to be specific. Let’s be honest, when you think of The Avengers, Falcon is probably the last one on the list.

The episode hit the ground running, or in this case flying. Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) aka Falcon was on a rescue mission and encountered bad guys in combat helicopters. A high speed chase ensued which resulted in death, explosions, and awesome aerial maneuvers.

We were introduced to Sam’s sister Sarah (Adepero Oduye), and her children. There have been many changes in the world since Endgame and some of the repercussions were revealed in this episode. Sam learned a harsh truth about his importance to society as well as his family.

Things didn’t get any brighter for Bucky (Sebastian Stan) either. He was broody as ever and for good reason. I liked seeing him in his therapy sessions, its scenes like that which ground the MCU characters. There were bits of well-placed humor is to break up the tension, which created a sense of balance. The Falcon & Winter Soldier get a 7 out of 10.
