Amy Adams has been involved with some of my favorite films. From Man of Steel to Arrival. One day I was on YouTube and came across the trailer for this Netflix original. When I saw Gary Oldman was involved, my mind was made up. The title tells you everything you need to know, except for why Anna Fox (Adams) doesn’t go outside.

One of the mysteries is Anna’s backstory and the other, a murder she witnessed in the apartment across the street. Anna is presented as an unreliable cat lady so you’re never sure what is real or what is in her head. The woman has serious issues and on top of that she’s an alcoholic. This dynamic created unsettling visual imagery, like a fever dream.

The story is one of guilt, resolve, and fear. Dialogue between the characters was weird as hell, almost unrealistic, and certainly should have raised red flags. The Woman In The Window, although shot beautifully, seemed more like a stage play than a film. It plays with your head a little but is very engaging. I give it an 8 out of 10.
