Wonder Woman (2017) Review

It’s about time! Patty Jenkins returns to Hollywood after a 14 year hiatus to direct Wonder Woman. The wait was definitely worth it. God knows there have been some terrible adaptations. DC/Warner Bros. really got their act together with this one. It is a magnificent film. Everyone should go see this movie. Gal Gadot really surprised the hell out of me.

Her performance was nothing short of stellar. She is a bad mama jama. The dramatic chops she shows is pretty impressive. Her character, Diana Prince, is the personification of freedom, justice, and equality. Hailing from Themyscira, Diana is the princess of the Amazons. Women who live without men in a peaceful magical island. The warriors come from all ethnic backgrounds. It’s a very diverse cast.

The cinematography looks like something out of James Cameron’s Avatar. It is so dreamy. You really feel like you’re in a world of gods. The cool thing is that it fits in with the look of the other DC films like Man of Steel and Batman VS. Superman. I am looking forward to Justice League now more than ever. Not just because all of my favorite heroes are in it but because of Wonder Woman.

If you want to see some hardcore fight sequences, then this is for you. If you want to see a strong female lead the charge and not be a backseat damsel in distress, this is for you. Wonder Woman is a not just a war movie or a coming-of-age tale. It’s about standing up for what’s right. We can use that message right about now. I give it a 9 out of 10.
