People have looked at me in shock every time I told them, “I have never seen Rocky Horror Picture Show.” As someone who considers themselves a movie buff, I was offended. So I made it a priority to watch this. I can now say it was worth the hype. This is the strangest and most original movie I’ve ever seen.
I asked myself throughout the entire film, what am I watching? From what I gathered, some newly-weds had a car breakdown and went to the wrong place for help. The songs were catchy and the costumes were very interesting. Dr. Frank-N-Furter (Tim Curry) was the most intimidating character because he was so unstable. He’d go from being cheerful or funny then burst into a menacing rage. This was both entertaining and made the movie unpredictable.
To this day, I’m still not exactly sure what the whole story was about. There’s so much going on between words of dialogue being shouted so loud they’re incomprehensible and character accents. Still, the set designs were cool, the actors were great. The comedic timing was spot on and there were certainly over the top horror moments. It’s a film I’ve added to my Halloween season queue. I give this one a 6.5 out of 10.
