You’ve probably heard all the hype about Disney+. The House of Mouse released an app with a load of content from it’s hidden vault on the moon. However, most of the hype is surrounding it’s original content. One of them based in the Star Wars universe, The Mandalorian. It’s worth the price of admission alone.
Starring Pedro Pascal as a space traveling bounty hunter. It is a very nice addition to the mythos of the galaxy far, far away. You don’t have to be a fan of the movies to enjoy this show. Although if you’re familiar, I would liken the aesthetic to Rogue One. It’s gritty and surprisingly violent. It really highlights what a society can become with no leader.
The world is established pretty early in the episode. With no authoritarian government, most planets are on the brink of anarchy. Characters in every scene are a blend of puppets, practical makeup, and digital effects. It’s a futuristic western that would make my late grandmother smile. I give The Mandalorian debut episode an 8.5 out of 10.
If you’re on the fence about getting the app, sign up for a free trial. I have to admit my eyes watered with joy when I saw the TV series. My mind was transported back to the 90s when I was a child. I think that’s the biggest allure of Disney+. It’s essentially a library of quality entertainment for many generations. One I will revisit.
I need to get Disney app just so I can watch this series.
