This one is a deep cut. I’m a 90s kid who is obsessed with 80s culture. The Lost Boys is one of the first vampire flicks I’ve ever seen. It’s also one of the most memorable as it strays from the traditional formula of neck bite equals new vampire. I saw this movie at a mom & pop shop and had to pick it up.
It hasn’t aged too well but is still entertaining. This cast is full of notable actors in their youth that you probably might recognize like Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, and others. It’s about a single mother who moves to a new city with her two sons. While trying to make friends with the locals, they discover a nest of vampires.
The grunge emo culture is present through the entire film. You can really get a sense of the time period. From the costumes to the soundtrack. I promise you won’t stop singing Cry Little Sister after the credits roll. This movie has vampires, gore, atmosphere, and cheesy one-liners. It’s a good time that can be enjoyed by anyone with a little time on their hands. I give it a 6 out of 10.
