Pumpkinhead II (1993) Review

I was introduced to the Pumpkinhead franchise when I was 8 or 9 years old. Yes, I know that I shouldn’t have been watching Rated R films but that’s a whole nutha conversation. Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings is a soft reboot. It expands the mythos of the demonic character, introducing us to a new variation of the creature.

It is a spirit of vengeance that extracts a heavy toll for the conjurer as well as its victims. In this movie, five dumb ass teenagers with nothing better to do perform a random spell. This is where the movie really starts. One by one it starts to hunt people in barbaric fashion. It’s like watching a movie full of Mortal Kombat fatalities.

The acting is over-the-top and, in some scenes, downright terrible. Characters drop exposition at the most random times. This is to be expected for direct-to-video films of the time. The plot is as simple as the small town it takes place in. Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings gets a 7 out of 10.
