Nobody Sleeps In The Woods Tonight (2020) Review

If you’re a fan of movies like Friday the 13th and Texas Chainsaw Massacre, then this is the perfect film for you. A group of teens are sent to a camp where they aren’t allowed to use any technology. Its is a timely subject with interesting commentary about being addicted to mobile devices. Couple that with some deformed cannibals and you got yourself a party. If you see anyone at a party that look like dude in the above photo, run.

The new cast of Friends lol jk

This movie did a solid job in making you care about the victims. You get to spend some time and learn why they are at the camp. Its meta in that one of the characters spoke about the group “splitting up” and how it never is a good idea. Self-aware dialogue like this make you wonder if your expectations will be subverted or play into the usual tropes. The script is tight with a laser focus on pushing the narrative forward for both the killers and teenagers.

Even though this is a low-budget project, the kill scenes are sick. The slashers are fucking gross! I found it hard to look at them for too long. There was literally a lot of shit going on with their face. Also, they do explain why they look that way. That subplot in itself added a tragic layer to their backstory. You should watch this before the sequel is released on Netflix October 27th, 2021. I give Nobody Sleeps In The Woods a 6 out of 10.
