Mortal Kombat: Annihilation (1997) Review

Look at this man face in the thumbnail. Doesn’t he look stupid? I don’t know why the ninjas in this movie have such humongous face mask. Must be difficult to walk around with a dumbbell attached to your jaw. That’s how I felt watching this dumpster fire of a sequel to Mortal Kombat. I’m sure there was a significant budget cut but this don’t make no damn sense.

They replaced half the main cast with actors that don’t look ANYTHING like the originals. For some reason Jax was presented as a shouting pervert. Sonya was a victim of gang violence throughout the story and Raiden got shot through every single wall on set. I’m convinced the director didn’t like this man. This was a difficult watch, but I persevered.

The “heroes” of Earth took losses left and right. More characters from the game made appearances, but were disposed of in 2 minutes or less. If you were wondering, the lady in pink is supposed to be Mileena. I found this hilarious because Kitana was in both films and never wore a mask or this costume. Mortal Kombat: Annihilation lost its way and gets a 3.5 out of 10.
