Don’t Look Under The Bed (1999) Review

Disney had some pretty good original movies when I was a kid. Don’t Look Under The Bed is by far one of the creepiest. It probably won’t have you screaming but you will be unsettled. A teenage girl enlists the help of an imaginary friend to help fend off a bogeyman. It’s a simple premise full of corny one-liners, jokes, and cool effect sequences.

The Bogeyman is a mischievous magical entity that can shield itself from being seen. It can also interact with the physical world, making it both a threat and nuisance to deal with. Frances, the main character, struggles to find understanding as to why it is terrorizing her.

You might be able to figure it out halfway through. Although it’s a family film, viewer discretion is advised. The bogeyman is ugly as hell. Nasty looking fingers, demonic eyes, and yellow teeth. Might frighten small children. It’s a monster I wouldn’t want to see in a Disney movie or otherwise. Don’t Look Under The Bed is a good watch. 7 out of 10
