I have to be honest. Originally, I had no intentions of seeing this film. However, my girlfriend convinced me otherwise. So I decided to relent and it was the best decision I ever made. This movie was extremely entertaining. A bit long-winded but totally worth it. Now I can’t stop singing the damn songs. I’m officially a fan of this and will have all the lyrics memorized by the end of the month.
Beauty & The Beast is definitely a film for everyone. Except for conservative bigots who have a problem with a gay character. Other than that it is a masterpiece with something for the whole family. I recommend anyone whose going on a movie date with that special someone see this. You won’t regret it.
Now to the nitty-gritty of the movie. It’s a bit of a CG (computer generated) mess. There’s not a lot or any practical effects used. If you’re the artsy-fartsy type it can get a bit exhausting. However, the cinematography was superb! Very well shot. The castle where the Beast lives is a place I’d love to explore and probably will be able to via virtual reality. Can’t wait to see it on Blu-ray when it comes out.
As I stated the music is addictive and very well-composed. I had no idea the actors in this movie could sing so well. Dan Stevens who is the star of the X-MEN series Legion on FX, was impressive. Emma Watson was spectacular as well. She surprised me with her spot-on portrayal of Belle. This is a shoo-in for a Disney classic. Beauty & The Beast gets a 9 out of 10.
