Aquaman (2018) Review

Have you ever seen something that sent chills through your body? Not in a sense of fear but excitement. That feeling was amplified when I saw James Wan’s Aquaman. Wan is well-known for his work on films such as Saw, The Conjuring, Furious 7, and Insidious. He brings elements from all those blockbusters into this behemoth super hero story.

There aren’t a lot of people familiar with the DC titular character. Aquaman is often the butt of jokes and referred to as the guy who “talks to fish.” Jason Momoa changes all that from his look to his attitude. He brings a certain edge to the character. Making him relatable to the average humans in the film as well as the audience. Momoa plays the role of Arthur Curry, a man born of two worlds.

When one declares war on the other, he must take a stand to save both. Seeing Arthur go on adventures to become king are reminiscent of Indiana Jones. It was a delight to see. The visuals were insane! As if Star Wars and Avatar had a love child. I know I’m name dropping a lot of movies but it manages to retain its own identity. DC has steered the ship right with this one. Aquaman earns a 8.5 out of 10.
