A Quiet Place (2018) Review

Let me start by saying, I’m not easily startled. Yet this movie had me flinching in my seat. No hyperbole, I literally threw my arms up in the air to defend myself. It was not a 3D viewing and no I was NOT on drugs. A Quiet Place is genuinely scary as f*$k! It’s really creepy and somewhat of a silent film. No one in the theater wanted to make noise. The atmosphere was eerie.

John Krasinski directed, wrote, and starred in the film. Along with his real-life wife Emily Blunt. The two delivered dynamic performances acting in a movie with almost no dialogue. In the film, the couple have 3 kids and are trying to survive in a world where creatures with extreme hearing kill anything that makes sound. To make things even more intense, one of the kids is deaf.

This is a very small, self-contained story. You find out how high the stakes are in the first 15 mins of the film. Trust me, your jaw will drop. I was drawn into this movie and got way too invested. Felt like I was in the world with them, moving cautiously in my seat, trying not to chew my popcorn too loud. A Quiet Place will scare you silly.  I give it an 8.5 out of 10.
