A Haunted House (2013) Review

I haven’t seen slapstick like this since Scary Movie. Marlon Wayans is a writer and producer as well as the star. He played the role of Malcolm, who moved into a new home with his wife. A couple of days later, supernatural things started happening. It’s parody of movies like Paranormal Activity and The Exorcist. I hollered every five minutes at the bizarre humor in this film.

I have a ouiji board, its never been opened lol

Opposite of Malcolm is his wife Kisha (Essence Atkins) who is haunted by a demonic entity. She brings a ton of laughs with her jokes and extremely flawed logic. If you thought the victims in slasher flicks were stupid, then you will look at them like genius after this. The funniest thing about the couple is how much they tolerated. Despite the house being haunted, the couple stayed, and enlisted the help of some wacky characters.

These are the guys I want at my wedding

One such character is Father Williams (Cedric The Entertainer), who is a priest with scammer vibes. Dude kept me rollin’ with every line, the raunchiness is non-stop. There’s a significant amount of sexually explicit scenes. A few might be seen as “problematic” by standards today, so whiners beware. I had a great time watching this and look forward to checking out the sequel. A Haunted House gets a 6 out of 10.
