The Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) is a pioneer in the game industry. As a child, my mother gifted me a Super NES. It helped shape who I am today. I consider myself a Nintendo fanboy and have six of their consoles in my home. My fiancée and I happened upon the trailer while on HBO Max. We were hyped to see the laugh fest it proved to be.

Neil Patrick Harris is an American treasure. He doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. Harris played the adult version of Jacob Doyle who narrated the story of how he obtained an NES as a child. Winslow Fegley, of Nightbooks and Come Play fame, was his childhood counterpart. The kid has a bright future in Hollywood. His comedic timing was spot and he has amazing emotional range.

All the child actors are memorable and had a fairly even amount of screen time. During the 1980s, the NES was hard to find, as they sold like hot cakes. Jacob and his friends went through hell and high water to get their hands on one. Their tactics were insane and reminiscent of Home Alone. This movie provides sentimental value for those who grew up in the era. 8-Bit Christmas gets a 10 out of 10.
